Multi-culturalism: From that homeland to this homeland

  • more than 100 participants from over 10 ethnic groups entertained the gathering at the Aurora Centre

  • there were 16 cultural performances in all with the event ending in a fashion show

For third year in a row, Homeland - the multimedia multicultural performance show organised by the Chinese Culture Association (CCA) in collaboration with the Canterbury Migrants Centre (CMC) has been hailed as a huge success.

Participants ranging from Russia, Tajikistan, Ireland, Korea, China, India, Indonesia, and Uzbekistan - with the number exceeding 100 - mesmerised the 600 plus audiences during the evening. The event was supported by Chinese Consulate General, Rata Foundation, PEETO, and several other community groups.

Robbin Wang, who is the President of CCA, and Jane Song from CMC, were the main coordinators of the event.

“We organised this event for the first time in 2014 in the Horncastle Arena. The idea was to bring back life, vibrancy, and confidence in a broken city. The participation from ethnic groups as well as the number of people attending the event has grown steadily in the last three editions,” Song noted.
